Dill pickle grilled cheese sandwiches are perfect for both pickle and cheese lovers. A dill pickle grilled cheese sandwich combines soft, melty cheese with the salty crunch of a pickle. This sandwich is a perfect quick and easy sandwich that will pack a punch of flavor with every bite. The acidity of the pickle combined with gooey cheese is truly mouthwatering. To tie it all together, the crispy buttery bread perfectly encapsulates the entire sandwich.
Ingredients:
- Bread
- mayo or butter
- Shredded mozzarella
- Dill pickles
To make the sandwich you must first lay out your two pieces of bread and spread butter or mayo onto one side of each. Once the mayo or butte has been spread, you need to turn the bread to have the dry side facing up, then place the side with the mayo onto the skillet. This is an important step because if the spread is on the outside when being grilled, the sandwich will become crispier. After you have spread the mayo, lay a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese onto the sandwich. After you lay your cheese down and before you lay the pickle on the sandwich, the pickles need to be dried. To dry them off, lay the pickle on a piece of paper and dab off the extra juice. After the juice is all off of the pickle, lay the dill pickles on top of the shredded cheese. Finish off the sandwich by adding more cheese on top of the pickle then add the top piece of bread. Grill the sandwich on a skillet until the bread is golden brown, then it is time to eat!
Here are the specific ingredients I used, along with a few tips and tricks about how to create the best sandwich ever. I used a block of mozzarella cheese and shredded it with the thickest section of my cheese shredder. You can either use a block of cheese or a bag of shredded cheese, based on your preference. Make sure the mayo on your bread is placed on the pan with the mayo side on the pan in order to have a perfect crisp. For the pickles, I made sure to get the ‘sandwich slicers’ or the ‘dill slicers’ type of dill pickle, as they will be perfect to lay flat onto the sandwich. You also must remember to dry off your pickles with a paper towel before laying them on the sandwich, if you don’t dry them, the bread will become soggy.
The dill pickle grilled cheese is the perfect sandwich for someone that is looking for a tasty and quick sandwich.
