Forest Hills Eastern High School has had the exuberating opportunity to participate in WoodTV Football Frenzy hawk pride event. Early Friday morning, Students at Forest Hills Eastern portrayed incredible school spirit as nearly the whole school made an appearance out at the field as early as 5:30 in the morning. The morning consisted of fun activities involving Eastern athletics, National Honor Society, and of course, Wood TV News Broadcasting. The marching band and cheerleaders were a hit as they led our school in the many chants and cheers. Senior and Varsity Cross Country member Tyler Endres explains, “I had a great time. I thought it was great to see different groups of people come together to support the community and show their hawk pride.”
The Football Frenzy was helped run by Eastern’s very own National Honor Society. In the days leading up to Friday, a school-wide food drive was put on. Students had the opportunity to bring in as many non-perishable foods as they could to help out our community. Finally, on Friday morning, the last of the food was dropped off by students and families.
Meanwhile, a select number of National Honor Society members spent their early morning inside the school. These students took their talent to making hundreds of pancakes for the hundreds of students. Multiple circuits were blown in this process; therefore, pancake-making stations were relocated to different spots throughout the great hall. There was a variety of types of pancakes made that morning ranging from chocolate chip pancakes to blueberry pancakes to plain pancakes. Senior Bethany Narducci was a part of the pancake making squad and explains, “It was probably the first time in my life that I flipped a pancake and I am pretty sure I flipped 100 of them.” By the end of the morning, a total of about 450 pancakes were made for the students at Eastern. Not only were there pancakes, but the school also provided delicious Eastern-themed donuts and warm hot chocolate. “The hot chocolate was fantastic,” Endres further expresses his honorable approval of the hot chocolate that was provided. Before the start of school, everyone came together and sat at the tables in the great hall and enjoyed a spirited morning filled with music and good vibes.
The Football Frenzy was an incredibly uplifting event that allowed, as Endres stated perfectly, the entire Forest Hills Eastern community to come together and prove how much hawk pride we all have.
