Do you want to find the best Netflix show to watch while being snuggled in your cozy blanket? Do you want to pick the best show, but don’t want to spend time looking for a show or a movie? Look no further! I’ve got the best list of movies and shows for all Netflix lovers. I have American classics, rom-coms, dramas, psychological thrillers, and more great vids for you and your friends and family to watch on a chilly night!
An American classic: Gilmore Girls. This show consists of seven seasons set in a storybook town in Stars Hollow, Connecticut. It is a lively and exciting town filled with artists, dreamers, and busy folk achieving their goals. It centers around the relationship between Lorelai Gilmore and her daughter Rory Gilmore. Lorelai owns the Dragonfly Inn and is a single mom in her thirties, while Rory is a dedicated and hard working private school student. Lorelai and Rory both have to attend the weekly family dinners with her well-off parents (who are funding Rory’s education), which always consists of a lot of drama and irony! Richard and Emily Gilmore, Lorelai’s parents, always have something to say about their daughter’s life, especially Emily. After high school, Rory attends Yale University and frequently visits her mom back in Stars Hollow. The relationships and drama that both Lorelai and Rory have throughout the show incites anticipation and leaves the viewer at the edge of their seat. Since the show premiered, it has averaged five million views per episode and there are seven seasons of over 20 episodes! It is loved by all ages and genders, so I recommend you watch this all-time favorite classic.
Want the perfect psychological thriller? I have just the pick for you! There are many psychological thrillers that I have in mind, but one movie that stands out to me is Fractured. After a man’s wife and injured daughter vanish from the emergency room, he becomes convinced that something has happened to both of them and takes matters into his own hands to find them. The ending is rather jaw-dropping. Top critic Audra Schroeder states that, “Fractured is the latest Netflix original thriller that feels like it was assembled in a factory, its keywords blinking to life: distant father, dissatisfied wife, vague trauma, man obsessed, save family.” I recommend this movie to someone who is looking for a little thrill in their life.
Most have seen La La Land, but if you haven’t, what are you waiting for? La La Land is an American musical romantic comedy-drama film starring Ryan Gosling as Sebastian and Emma Stone as Mia. Sebastian and Mia are drawn together by their craving to do what they both love in the entertainment industry. But when they achieve their successes, they begin to slowly fall apart. If only they did one thing differently, they would’ve had a different and better ending. Another movie that I highly recommend is Crazy Rich Asians. If you are someone who loves watching romantic dramas, this is the pick for you! Rachel Chu, a Chinese-American economics professor living in New York, is dating the one and only Nick Young. When she joins her boyfriend to go to Singapore for a friend’s wedding, Rachel learns that Nick is from an extremely wealthy family, but since he is so humble, she didn’t even know. Shoved into the spotlight, she deals with jealous women, eccentric relatives, and Nick’s disapproving mother. This movie is rated 4.5 stars out of 5 stars, and is heralded by many viewers as the “best movie to watch on an airplane.”
Netflix has so many more great movies that I wish I could write about, but alas. They are always removing the best movies and replacing them with other great movies and shows. The shows and movies on Netflix allow viewers to escape reality, and can even change their mindsets about politics, culture, and the economy. What’s better than studying? Binge watching on Netflix, of course!
