With the Eastern seniors officially having their last day of high school yesterday, May 6, the Hawk Herald is having a transition of staff members and writers!
This week and the next, will be the last time our senior writers Julian Zolenski, Reagan Carpenter, Nolan Ferguson, Davin Rose, and Anna Alt publish articles. Journalism is a special class that provides people with possibilities they can’t find many other places at Eastern. It’s able to connect people of all grade levels to collaborate on projects and ideas that they otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to! Reagan expressed her love for the class saying, “I loved the people in the class. I was able to meet people I would have otherwise never spoken to; through this, I was able to create great friendships across grade levels! I also liked getting to express my opinions and views on different topics through writing. It was great to be able to learn how to improve my writing while also having fun!” Julian shared similar sentiments but also was able to appreciate a different academic approach as well, stating, “I am grateful for journalism because it allowed me to fill my art credit requirement with something interactive and fueled more towards my interest.” We hope that other Eastern students will continue to join this class in the future and have the same experiences we all had!
Following the seniors’ leave, juniors Bethany Narducci and Ava Hoogterp will be joining the Hawk Herald; Both Bethany and Ava will also begin writing articles for our community, with Bethany assuming the role of the new Editor-In-Chief as well. Both are extremely excited to be a part of this as they look toward the remainder of the year and the possibilities of the next. Bethany shared her enthusiasm exclaiming, “I’m so excited to edit the Hawk Herald and provide readers with easy access to so many fantastic stories written by our Hawks!”
Thank you to all of the readers who have enjoyed reading our articles this year, it was a privilege to have the opportunity to write and express our interests to such a supporting community. We hope you continue to read and enjoy the hard work our staff puts into their writing; have a wonderful rest of the school year. The Hawk Herald seniors wish you all the best.
