Mr. Wysocki is a World History and AP and normal psychology teacher, but he’s so much more. In addition to his teaching duties, he is one of the coaches for Eastern’s baseball team and JV football team. He grew up in West Michigan and went to Forest Hills Northern. After high school, he attended the University of Michigan as a student-athlete playing baseball. After graduating in 2017, he came back to Forest Hills as a freshman baseball coach and teacher in 2018. He then became the 8th grade football coach and JV assistant baseball coach the next season. In 2020, there was no baseball because of the coronavirus, leading Wysocki to instead take over the freshmen football team. He then finally became the assistant coach of the varsity baseball team and the coach of the JV football team, roles which he still fills today.
Mr. Wysocki played baseball and football, starring as the quarterback, in high school and then continued playing baseball in college. Despite his best efforts, he didn’t make it to the major leagues, a childhood dream. He is also a fantastic singer, which he proved in college when he sang “The Way You Look Tonight” by Frank Sinatra during a talent show for U of Michigan’s athletes. He chose this song to make fun of judge Jim Harbaugh, the former Michigan football head coach who is now coaching the Los Angeles Chargers, because he knew that Jim Harbaugh would wear khakis that evening. Wysocki invited Harbaugh and his wife to dance on stage while he was singing the romantic song, giving Wysocki the ability to say that he sang for an NFL head coach.
After singing to the Harbaughs, Mr. Wysocki was ready for a job as an educator and was very lucky that Eastern was looking for a new teacher. It was a dream scenario for him to be able to teach and coach in his hometown. He describes himself as “an engaging and passionate teacher who wants to show kids the good parts of their time in high school and that it will get better in college”. The same can be said about his reasonings behind coaching. It’s his goal to show young people how exciting and uplifting sports can be. He is most proud of the baseball varsity team winning the State Championship in 2022.
Mr. Wysocki also likes playing golf and bowling in his free time, as well as attending MLB and NFL games. His most recent NFL game was between the Falcons and the Lions in 2005 on Thanksgiving. He mostly watches football on TV and also plays in the Hawks Staff fantasy football league where he finished second last season due to help from Hawk Herald editor Bethany Narducci. Many of his interests come from his father, who also likes football and baseball. That he wanted to be a teacher is also connected to his parents, as it is a mix of their jobs. Mr. Wysocki is a very friendly and helpful person and we are glad that he is one of our teachers and coaches. If anyone needs anything, whether it be singing tips or advice on how to stain a deck, Coach Wysocki’s door is always open.
